Prayer Request

How God Is Answering

1. Please pray that God would sanctify all of us here at the Chalmers Center so that our own sin would not prevent God from using us to extend His kingdom, to strengthen His church, and to glorify His name.  Please do not read anything into this request.  There are no scandals here.  We are just very aware that we are sinners who need God to continue to shape and to mold us so that He can use us to accomplish His work.

We are still sinners here…Keep praying!!!

2. Please pray that God would help us as we prepare for the Chalmers Center’s Christian Economic Development Institute to be held in Ghana during June 9-14, 2008.  Please ask God to send the right people to this training event so that His church would be strengthened in its ministry to the poor.

Plans for this training event seem to be going well.  Please continue to pray for us as we prepare all the training materials.  Please continue to pray that God will send the right people.

3. Please pray for the three distance learning courses that are currently being taught by the Chalmers Center.  Ask God for wisdom and discernment on the part of the course instructors and that the students in the courses will learn how to be more effective in their ministry to the poor.

The evaluations of these courses by the participants have been very, very positive.  Many of the participants indicate that these courses have made a significant impact on their lives and ministries.  Please pray for the course that is currently being taught: “Promoting Church-Centered Savings and Credit Associations.”

4. Please pray for restored health for Steve Corbett, one of the Chalmers Center’s staff members.  Steve had hip surgery back in December and has had a very painful and long recovery.  Steve is teaching one of our distance learning courses that started this week.  Please pray that God will give Steve renewed strength and energy.

God is restoring Steve’s health, and we can see improvement.  But please continue to pray for Steve as he struggles to regain his strength and to overcome pain.

5. Please pray for the turmoil in Kenya resulting from the recent presidential elections. Please ask God to end the violence there and to protect His people.  Pray that the church would have the faith, hope, and love to reject tribal tensions in favor of the reconciliation of Jesus Christ.  And pray for the poor there, who are bound to suffer the most from the social, economic, and political upheaval.

Although there has been some progress in negotiations between the two, presidential rivals, a lasting solution is still not in place.  Tensions remain high, and violence erupted last week in Kibera, one of the largest slums in Africa where several of the Chalmers Center’s Global Fraternity of Trainers are working.  Please continue to pray for reconciliation and peace.

6.  Please pray for the Chalmers Center’s Global Fellowship of Trainers (GFT).  The GFT consists of people from around the world who are training or preparing to train using the Chalmers Center’s materials.  Please pray that God would help these people to master the content of the materials and to have opportunities to train churches to minister to low-income people around the world.

This is a new prayer request.

7.  Please pray for several grant proposals that the Chalmers Center has submitted to several Christian Foundations.  Please pray that God will provide the resources to accomplish His work.

This is a new prayer request.
