Laurence H. Powell

Laurence (Larry) H. Powell is the president of Powell Family Enterprises, LLC, a private equity investment company in Atlanta, Ga. He served as president of Powell & Company Insurance from 1978 to 1991, when it sold to AON Risk Services, Inc. of Georgia, a subsidiary of AON.

Larry has invested in and served on the boards of a number of private companies. He currently serves as chairman of the board of Generous Giving and as a trustee of the Maclellan Foundation. He received a BBA from the University of Georgia and an MBA from Georgia State University. Larry and his wife, Betsy, reside in Atlanta.

David Hoffman

David Hoffman is a businessman with a strong interest in social justice and poverty alleviation. He currently serves as the CEO of Sitnasuak Native Corporation, a Native American owned for-profit corporation with nation-wide operations and revenues in excess of $100 million.

He previously served as the founder and long-time CEO of Alaska Growth Capital (AGC), a nationally-recognized corporate innovator that provides commercial loans, equity capital and consulting services to businesses that often do not have access to conventional bank financing. Prior to founding AGC, he was the CEO and Chief Operating Officer of two diversified conglomerate corporations. From 1987 – 1990 he was the cabinet officer in Alaska responsible for state community development and job training programs.

Hoffman has also worked as a consultant to numerous international and domestic corporations, NGOs and faith-based institutions. He has recently been involved in projects with indigenous people in the Western United States, Kenya, Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), and Liberia and is a guarantor for Microcredit Enterprises.

David holds B.A. and Masters Degrees from Harvard and is a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School. He is an Adjunct faculty member in Rural Development at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and is a member of the President’s Council at the Chalmers Center for Economic Development at Covenant College in Georgia. He is a long-time member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) / World Presidents Organization (WPO) and is on the international Executive Committee of the YPO/WPO Economic Development Network.
